The
faunistic area,750 m above
sea level, is situated amid
“Su Campu de Bidiculai,
“Punta Or Mufrones” and
“Punta su Crabargiu” at “Sa
Portiscra” in the Urzulei
mountains. The natural
aspects of the territory are
well-preserved, there are
century-old forests of
evergreen oaks, majestic
junipers, rare wild orchids,
peonies, various endemisms;
from these slopes the
Sardinian goshawk and the
majestic golden eagle soar
into the sky. Moufflons,
wild-boars, wild-cats,
martens and foxes live
happily in this area. This
place has been chosen for
the re-introduction of the
Sardinian deer after its
extinction at the beginning
of the 1900s. Inside this
oasis of about 10 hectares
there are Cervus Elaphus
Corsicanus (granted by the
Sardinian Forest
Corporation). Near the oasis
you can visit the Nuraghic
village of “Or Murales”, one
of the biggest and most
spectacular in Sardinia,
with over 100 huts in a good
state of preservation. The
entire area is “framed” by
breathtaking scenery, in
which the beautiful Gola di
Gorropu is visible ,with its
rock walls of nearly 500 m
high, the limestone chain
that from Monte Oseli towers
over the “Codula di Luna as
far as the gulf of Orosei. |
