The
necropolis, situated on the
slopes of Tracucu hill,
includes at least 17 tombs
or domus de janas
(fairy houses). The oldest
part of the necropolis dates
back to Neolithic times to
the Ozieri culture
(3800-2900B.C.) as testified
by ceramic fragments brought
to light in one of the
tombs. The discovery of
three vases from the
Bonnanaro culture
(2350-1600B.C.) shows that
the tombs were later
re-utilised at the beginning
of the Bronze Age.
Some of
these pre-historic graves
dug into the rock consist of
a single chamber, others
have a composite plan, with
various niches and
cells-like rooms. Access is
gained through corridor
entrances(dromos).
